Residential Support Services
CLS Support Services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual we serve, with the goal of helping everyone thrive in both their daily lives and their community. While services are flexible and continuously evolving to reflect changing needs, goals, and levels of independence, they are always grounded in the same core values of CLS—respect, person-centered care, safety, and support. This balance allows us to adapt over time while staying committed to providing consistent, meaningful, and high-quality care.
Medication Management
Person-Centered
At CLS, medication management is an important part of the comprehensive support we provide to individuals in our care. We understand that proper medication administration plays a critical role in maintaining health, safety, and overall quality of life. That is why we are committed to ensuring medications are administered accurately, documented thoroughly, and managed in accordance with Wisconsin regulations and best practices.

Our goal is not only to promote medication safety, but also to support each individual's health, independence, dignity, and well-being through person-centered care.

Whether an individual requires full medication administration, assistance with medication routines, or support while maintaining independence, our team works to provide the appropriate level of support based on each person's unique needs, abilities, and healthcare requirements.
Medication safety begins with proper training.

All CLS caregivers who administer or assist with medications receive specialized medication administration training. Staff members complete medication administration education based on the curriculum developed through the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay and approved by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). Employees who have not yet completed the required training receive immediate in-house instruction, supervision, and competency development as part of their onboarding process to ensure safe medication practices.

Wisconsin requires caregivers responsible for medication administration to demonstrate competency before independently performing medication-related duties. Our training program helps ensure that staff understand not only how to administer medications correctly, but also why medication safety is essential to protecting the health and well-being of those we support.

Medication administration training includes:
-
Medication administration procedures and techniques
-
Understanding physician and practitioner orders
-
Medication safety practices
-
Proper medication documentation and recordkeeping
-
Reading and maintaining Medication Administration Records (MARs)
-
Medication storage, handling, and security requirements
-
Recognizing side effects, adverse reactions, and medication interactions
-
Procedures for medication refusals and medication errors
-
Infection prevention and control practices
-
Resident rights and confidentiality
-
Emergency response procedures related to medications
-
Communication with healthcare providers, pharmacies, guardians, and support teams
-
Safe administration of prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, and supplements
-

In addition to medication administration training, caregivers receive ongoing education and support to ensure compliance with current regulations, best practices, and organizational policies.
A broader commitment to supporting overall health and wellness.
At CLS, medication management is about more than simply administering medications. It is part of a broader commitment to supporting overall health and wellness.

We recognize that every individual has different strengths, abilities, and support needs. Whenever appropriate, we encourage individuals to participate in managing their medications and to develop skills that promote greater independence. Our team works closely with healthcare providers, guardians, and support teams to determine the safest and most appropriate level of medication support.

Depending on individual needs, medication support may include:
-
Medication reminders
-
Assistance with medication routines
-
Observation and monitoring
-
Full medication administration by trained staff

Documentation and tracking of medication use
-
Communication regarding medication concerns or changes
-
Coordination with physicians, pharmacies, and healthcare professionals

By balancing safety with independence, we help individuals maintain as much control over their healthcare as possible while ensuring appropriate support is available when needed.
Ongoing and Collaborative Oversight
Medication safety requires ongoing attention, accountability, and oversight.

CLS follows established procedures to ensure medications are:
-
Administered according to physician and practitioner orders
-
Documented accurately and consistently
-
Stored securely and safely
-
Monitored for effectiveness and potential side effects
-
Reviewed regularly for accuracy and compliance
-
Managed in collaboration with healthcare providers and support teams

Our staff work closely with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, case managers, guardians, and family members to help ensure medications are managed appropriately and that any concerns are addressed promptly.

This collaborative approach helps promote positive health outcomes while reducing the risk of medication errors and ensuring continuity of care.
CLS operates in accordance with Wisconsin Chapter 50 and Wisconsin Administrative Code DHS 83, which establish the standards for licensed Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs).

These regulations provide important safeguards designed to protect the health, safety, rights, and well-being of individuals receiving services. As a licensed provider, CLS follows these requirements in all aspects of medication administration and medication management.

Wisconsin regulations require facilities to maintain comprehensive medication management systems that include:
-
Staff training and demonstrated competency in medication administration
-
Written physician or practitioner orders for medications administered by staff
-
Accurate and complete Medication Administration Records (MARs)
-
Secure medication storage and handling procedures
-
Ongoing monitoring for medication effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions
-
Documentation and reporting of medication errors when required
-
Procedures for medication refusals and medication changes
-
Protection of resident rights related to medication use and self-administration
-
Ongoing staff education and quality assurance practices

Under DHS 83, individuals who are capable of safely managing their own medications are encouraged to do so whenever appropriate. When support is needed, trained staff provide medication assistance and administration according to physician orders and established safety procedures.
CLS maintains policies and procedures that align with these state requirements while promoting dignity, independence, and person-centered care.

Trusted Medication Management & Care
Families place tremendous trust in those responsible for supporting the health and well-being of their loved ones. At CLS, we take that responsibility seriously.

Through comprehensive staff training, regulatory compliance, ongoing oversight, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and a commitment to person-centered care, we strive to provide medication management services that are safe, accurate, reliable, and compassionate.

Every caregiver responsible for medication administration receives specialized medication training and competency verification. Through a combination of University of Wisconsin–Green Bay-based medication administration education, in-house training, ongoing supervision, and compliance with Wisconsin Chapter 50 and DHS 83 regulations, CLS maintains a medication management program focused on safety, accountability, and resident well-being.

Our commitment is simple: to support each individual's health while helping them live as independently, confidently, and successfully as possible.
Behavioral and Emotional Support
Behavioral Support Planning
Monitoring and 24/7 Coordination
Ongoing communication is central to maintaining a safe and supportive environment. Staff consistently document behaviors, progress, and concerns so leadership teams can monitor patterns and respond appropriately. CLS provides access to a 24-hour on-call coordinator who communicates with each home. This coordinator is actively involved in supporting staff and residents, assisting with behavioral concerns, and helping guide responses to any emerging needs. This support system ensures that no situation is managed in isolation.
Training and De-Escalation Support
All CLS caregivers and coordinators receive ongoing training in behavioral support strategies, crisis prevention, and de-escalation techniques. Staff are trained to respond calmly, consistently, and professionally to behavioral or emotional challenges while prioritizing dignity, respect, and safety. Regular training ensures that staff continue to build their skills and remain prepared to support a wide range of needs in a structured and supportive manner.
Safe and Positive Home Environment
CBRF and AFH homes are designed to provide structure, stability, and a safe living environment for all individuals. Staff supervision is consistent and supportive, helping reduce stressors and encourage positive interactions within the home. The focus is on creating an environment where individuals feel secure, understood, and supported while working toward their personal goals and daily routines.
A Continuous Journey of GrowthÂ
At CLS, we recognize that behavioral and emotional support is a continuous journey rather than a fixed system. Each individual is unique, and behaviors may change due to a variety of factors. Because of this, we remain flexible, responsive, and committed to ongoing learning. Our approach is continually refined to reflect each individual’s needs while staying grounded in the core values of CLS.
CLS works closely with individuals, guardians, case managers, and care teams to develop personalized behavioral and support plans tailored to each person’s specific needs. These plans provide clear, structured guidance for staff while supporting positive behavior, emotional regulation, and daily success. As new information, behaviors, or patterns emerge, plans are continuously reviewed and updated in collaboration with the care team to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
Residential Supports and Community Living
Community Integration and Daily Living Support
At CLS (Crabtree Living Solutions), community integration is built into daily living and designed to promote independence, routine, and meaningful participation in both home and community environments. Individuals are supported through structured schedules, coordinated services, and person-centered planning that encourages growth in everyday life skills.
Coordinated Meal Planning and Nutrition Support
Each home participates in a weekly grocery planning process where residents contribute to a shared grocery list. House coordinators review and submit orders to ensure all nutritional needs, preferences, allergies, and dietary restrictions are properly accommodated. Meals are based on a set menu, while still allowing flexibility for house input and adjustments. CLS emphasizes healthier food choices and encourages balanced, health-conscious living within each household.
Daily Structure and Active Community Envolvement
Individuals follow a consistent daily routine designed to promote stability and engagement. Each morning, residents either attend a day program in the Burlington or Kenosha area (with provided transportation), go to work, or participate in volunteer opportunities. This structure helps build responsibility, consistency, and independence while ensuring individuals remain active and involved in meaningful daily activities.
Reliable Transportation and Care Coordination
CLS provides transportation support to ensure individuals can safely access day programs, employment, community activities, and appointments. Coordinators also assist with scheduling and attending medical or personal appointments when needed. Staff support includes advocacy, communication assistance, and documentation to ensure all important information is accurately recorded and shared with care teams.
Life Skills Development Through Home Routines
Weekly grocery planning and active household participation help individuals develop a wide range of practical life skills, including decision-making, budgeting awareness, meal planning, and communication. In addition to grocery involvement, individuals also build important daily living skills through participation in household routines such as cleaning and maintaining shared spaces, completing personal laundry, organizing personal belongings, following schedules, and contributing to general home upkeep. By being involved in these everyday responsibilities, individuals gain a stronger sense of ownership, responsibility, and independence within their living environment while practicing essential skills that support long-term success both at home and in the community.
Family-Like Home Environment
Homes are designed to be supportive, social environments where individuals can build relationships, develop living skills, and feel a true sense of belonging within their home. The atmosphere in each residence is structured to feel like a family environment, where residents are encouraged to interact, support one another, and engage in experiences that foster connection and community.

Residents regularly participate in household routines and group activities, including shared hobbies, games, outings, and recreational interests that help build friendships and promote social engagement. Staff provide supervision and assistance while encouraging as much independence as possible in daily tasks. Support is carefully balanced to promote safety, consistency, and skill development while allowing individuals to take pride in their home and the role they play within it.
Community Outings and Recreational Activities
When not attending day programs or work, individuals often participate in community outings and group activities. These may include recreational events, local trips, shopping, or leisure activities based on group or individual interests. These experiences help strengthen social skills, encourage community involvement, and provide opportunities for enjoyment and personal growth.
